Constantine stresses on hard work to get a win against hosts Myanmar tomorrow

STEPHEN CONSTANTINE PLAYED some mental gymnastics ahead of India's crucial Asian Cup Qualifiers 3rd Round campaign opener against Myanmar away from home, calling them the favourites for the tie.

While facing the Asean nation, ranked 172nd in the world, is hardly the biggest challenge India expect to face over the next one year, Constantine emitted a cautious vibe ahead of tomorrow's match,

“The Players have worked very hard to prepare for the game against Myanmar and it will be a challenge for us. We have the utmost respect for Myanmar as they are a very tough Team. I expect a very tough and tight game.”

With a place in the Asian Cup 2019 UAE on the line, Constantine said he was optimistic about India's chances of finishing among the top 2 in a group where they face challenges from Kyrgyzstan, Myanmar and Macau,

“We believe we have a chance to qualify for the Finals and so does Myanmar and so does every Team in the group. Hence it is vital not to lose our first game... we focus on our home games after our clash against Myanmar and every Team will try to secure nine points to get them a qualification to 2019.”

Citing India's past experiences against Myanmar where they have had to face defeat, Constantine shifted the tag of the favourites to the host nation,

“The pressure will be on the home team. We have worked hard coming into the game and we need to play our best."
