I am not Sunil Chhetri, I make mistakes, says CK Vineeth; vows to do his best for BFC comeback

BENGALURU FC ATTACKER CK Vineeth acknowledged that it was tough for the defending champions to make a comeback in the I-League title race now, but said the whole team was focused on doing just the same.

Speaking to the press ahead of the all-important match against East Bengal, Vineeth said,

"Look, we know it's tough. But we can make it. That's what we think right now. If we do what we need to do, we can make it and we're going for that."

When asked about his own lack of form, Vineeth said he was not perfect but was eager to bounce back,

"I'm not Sunil Chhetri that I'll go out and score every game. I'm CK Vineeth. I may miss a few chances. I think if we had taken all the chances we created we'd be in the top spot right now. So that's what we need to do, we need to convert our chances. It's just a matter of time we'll get back."

The former winger has become a prominent striker at Bengaluru FC. He said the change of position, and the added responsibility that comes with it, does not phase him and he just wanted to do his best for the team,

"I used to be a winger. Now I'm playing as a striker. Strikers get a lot more chances to score. I'll have to try and score a few of them and we should be good.... it's frustrating to lose so many points but we can't put our head down and think about the past, we need to focus and go for 3 points next."

After starting the league in an explosive season and scoring a hat-trick against Mumbai FC, Vineeth has hit a bad patch and has been unable to score a goal for a month. His last goal, incidentlally, came against East Bengal at Barasat and he will want to end his dry spell against the old enemy tomorrow at Kanteerava.
