FOREIGN ASSETS: Runners-up Mohun Bagan ready with their deadly permutations

THE OVERARCHING THEME at Mohun Bagan in the Sanjoy Sen era has been stability; and at the core of the success the club has had over the last couple of seasons is the fact that they held onto their best players.

So, it's hardly unsurprising that a glance at the Mariners' I-League 2016-17 sqad tell you that most of the players who played a key role in them winning the I-League and Federation Cup in the last 2 years are still there. This is less true when it comes to the foreigners they have this season - they have changed 2 of the 4 overseas players they had last season - but one can easily identify a theme of stability here as well.

Mohun Bagan have stuck to their formula of filling their foreigners' quota with one striker, one winger, one midfielder and one defender. Sony Norde and Katsumi Yusa, who have been with the club for some years now, continue to hold their place in the squad, and the new additions are striker Darryl Duffy and defender Eduardo Ferreira.

In this piece TFG takes a look at them to gauge whether they can help Mohun Bagan's cause in the I-League, Federation Cup and AFC Cup campaigns.
