Sanjoy Sen mocks ATK owner's claims of being the most popular club in Kolkata

THE MOHUN BAGAN head coach Sanjoy Sen has finally opened his mouth on Atletico de Kolkata majority owner Sanjiv Goenka's recent claim claim that his franchise is the most popular football team in Kolkata, and as usual, he did not mince words.

Cornered by journalists with the question, he at first tried to evade the question saying,

"I don't want to say anything. Whenever I open my mouth I end up saying too much."

His was referencing to the incident last season when he called AIFF a "sold out" organisation and ended up getting banned for several matches that contributed to the Mariners losing out in the I-League title race. But in the end the coach, who has won both the I-League and the Federation Cup in the last 2 years, did say a lot about the ATK owner's claims,

"The third cub of a goat is always restless, it jumps around all over the place. Some people are like that. We have zero concern about them."

Atletico de Kolkata, after winning the ISL 2016 final, held a victory event where about a thousand fans showed up at a shopping mall. Many fans have compared that event to the kind of reaction Mohun Bagan's I-League triumph saw back in 2015; a massive crowd participated in an impromoptu victory rally from the Kolkata airport to the club's ground in which an estimated 1.5 lakh people took part.
