FIVE PLAYERS stand a chance to represent FC Pune City after getting through an Adidas challenge by the name #FirstNeverFollows.
170 applicants were shortlisted by adidas and FC Pune City to undertake the selection trials at FC Pune City’s training centre. Out of these shortlisted participants, top 5 players have been selected by FC Pune City’s coaches, who will be offered a week-long professional trial by the club, which has the option of being further extended to a professional contract based on their performances during this week-long trial.
The top 5 selected players selected are:
1. Khailal Soul- Manipur
2. T Micheal Zou- Manipur
3. Ayush Nevelle- Kolkata
4. Kasib Sayed- Navi Mumbai
5. Aniket Shigvan- Vasai
Commenting on the challenge, Hrishikesh Shende, Director Football, adidas India said, said,
“Football in India is growing rapidly with many young players aspiring to turn professional. The first edition of this activity received an overwhelming response from around the country. In India, if cricket is a religion, football is the passion. adidas is always committed to promoting sports at grass-root levels and, initiatives like these give individuals the opportunity to become professional”.

“FC Pune City has always believed in promoting young players to the team. #FirstNeverFollows challenge has allowed us to directly engage with the players and give them a chance to showcase their skills. The selected players will be evaluated by our coaches at FC Pune City, ensuring that they get the best experience of the game and a chance to win a professional contract with us. We are hoping to unearth some exciting talent!”
FC Pune City star player Eugeneson Lyngdoh said,
“The First Never Follows Challenge is a great initiative from adidas and FC Pune City to give aspiring young players a once-in- a-lifetime shot at achieving their dream of becoming pro footballers. Such opportunities are perfect to spur the growth of football as a whole in India. The top 5 selected players are promising individuals who had demonstrated great football skills as amateurs in the selection trials, and I wish them good luck.”
