1. Antonio German

Antonio German

The tall English striker has been one of the main reasons the Blasters haven't been able to get on the score sheet. No no, it's not his inclusion in the team that's the cause of it but it is the understanding of his potential where the trouble lies. German was the team's joint too scorer last year. This gives you an idea what is capable of. Most of his goals have come from his lethal left foot and some from his towering headers. Antonio is most dangerous when he is in space to unleash his coveted strike. Precisely, just above the' D' top or the horizontal line of the penalty box, parallel to the goal is where he can launch screamers from. That's his territory, his launch pad of his left foot stingers. In the last three games, he has done that on two occasions, once against ATK and second time against NorthEast. Although both those strikes were not even half as much what German is capable of but we know eventually in the tournament we will see one of Antonio specials. The pic below shows where Antonio German has taken shots from, in the past games.

Another reason why German's name has been included as shortcoming for Kerala is too much dependence on him. German has amazing ability to pull defenders towards him. The opposition is so well aware what German can do when given that space, so he is closed down as soon he is on the ball. Taking this as an opportunity to free up the supporting players, who can create space to receive the ball from German must quickly take up vantage positions for the final move to score.
