Gurwinder Singh

Gurwinder Singh

An experienced centre back, Gurwinder Singh has been playing top division football for more than a decade. The Punjabi lad emerged in the scene with his stint in JCT. After 5 years with the club, he joined East Bengal, and has been with them for 6 years now.

Aside from being a consistent player in the I-League, Gurwinder has also been a part of Kerala Blasters since the start of ISL. In the first year, he featured prominently, making 11 appearances during the campaign. During the games he made his presence felt with a confrontational style of play that intimidated opponent strikers. He used his height and strong build to compete for aerial balls and sometimes blocked the opposition strikers' path. This kind of play often lead to fouls and he picked up 3 yellow cards.

In 2015, he was a prime candidate to man the KBFC defence again, but a serious injury sustained during a match against ATK ruled him out from the tournament, and he missed the I-League season too.

Back in full health, Gurwinder will be aiming to make up for lost time and help his ISL team get back to where they were in 2014, and shake off the less-than-pleasant memories of ISL 2015.
