Graham Stack

Graham Stack

This Irish keeper's career has gone through some tragic stuff. He grew up with a dream to play in the Premier League, and he thought it was about to happen when he made it into the Arsenal youth system. But despite years of trying, it never happened.

During his time at Arsenal (the peak of the Arsene Wenger era; back to back trophies and the Invincibles) he spent time away on loan, and only got to play a few League Cup games. He then went to Milwall in the Championship; but didn't give up on trying to play in the PL. He moved on to Reading, and the club earned promotion to PL while he was there. But he didn't get to play. After a few more stints with Championship clubs, he went off to Scotland to play top division football with Hibernian. Subsequently he returned to play in England but at an even lower division with Barnet.

Now he's been brought to KBFC by head coach Steve Coppell, and indications are he may start most of the games ahead of Sandip Nandy and Kunal Sawant. While KBFC did find success with David James in the goal in 2014, Stack has never been at par with him in quality, and using him too much poses a risk that KBFC could have done without.

But of course, when compared to the other two keepers in the squad, Stack does provide a better sense of dependability. So if the coach is okay with using one less foreigner in the outfield, he does make for a fine number 1.
