Mumbai City to loan out Udanta Singh from Bengaluru FC

VARIOUS ISL FRANCHISES are all set to continue with their trend of picking established youngsters from I-League clubs instead of scouting for and trying out real new talent. Mumbai City have started on this path by signing Udanta Singh of Bengaluru FC.

The 19 year old winger from Manipur stepped up to the plate for Bengaluru FC this last season and soon became a regular. His importance in the squad increase when this season he produced some great performance to fill in for the absence of prominent attackers like Sunil Chhetri, Eugeneson Lyngdoh and Robin Singh due to injuries. So far he has made 31 appearances for Bengaluru FC across all competitions and scored 2 goals.

His performance at the I-League champion club got him a spot at the national team, and he played 2 matches for the Blue Tigers earlier this year. At this point several ISL franchises took notice of him, and his newfound star quotient. And according to a report on Xtra Time, Mumbai City won the race to rope him in on a loan deal.

The inclusion of Udanta Singh will be a boost for the Mumbai City attack which despite featuring big names did not deliver consistently last year, and provide ISL with a candidate for those 'Emerging Player' awards less embarrassing than Arata Izumi and Jeje Lalpekhlua.
