East Bengal launch counter-complaint against Cornell Glen for "disproved" racism allegation

EAST BENGAL ARE hitting back against Mohun Bagan striker Cornell Glen over his allegations of racism against their defender Arnab Mondal.

The former Trinidad & Tobago world cupper had alleged that Arnab Mondal had racially abused him during the Kolkata Derby on 2nd April. The AIFF Disciplinary Committee looked into the matter and found Mondal guilty of using "agreessive and abusive" language against Glen, and suspended him for 2 matches along with a fine of Rs 1 lakh. But they did not find his comments to be racist. As a result, Mondal had to sit out during the all-important game against Bengaluru FC, and he's out of tonight's clash with Sporting Clube de Goa as well.

But the East Bengal management have taken excpetion to the fact that Glen accused Mondal of racism; something they say the resulting punishment against the defender disproves. So they have sent a letter of complaint to AIFF to seek disciplinary proceedings against Glen for bringing a false allegation of racism.

The AIFF is yet to respond to it and it's unclear how quickly action will be initiated against Glen in this case, but any punishment to Glen can seriously affect Mohun Bagan's chances in the upcoming Federation Cup.
