Cornell Glen accuses Arnab Mondal of racist abuse, Mohun Bagan write complaint to AIFF

THE KOLKATA DERBY went forward in a messy way, with one controversial occurence after another. There was the disputed penalty decision given against Luciano Sabrosa. There was the red card shown to acting Mohun Bagan coach Sankarlal Chakraborty for protesting the penalty decision. But all that mess has been eclipsed by an allegation of racism brought in by Mohun Bagan striker Cornell Glen.

Early in the second half, Arnab Mondal brought down the former Trinidad and Tobago international near the midfield. The two had an exchange of words. During that, Arnab said something that visibly ticked Glen off. Glen's reaction was particularly angry, and an intervention by Robert Lalthlamuana wasn't enough to calm him down as the former walked away furious.

After the match, Glen posted a tweet alleging that Arnab Mondal had racially abused him and expressed hope that the AIFF would deal with the matter as harshly as it did with Sanjoy Sen's little jibe.

The East Bengal defender has denied the allegation. It is yet unclear whether or not the match commissioner's report includes this incident, but it is understood that top-ranking AIFF officials have noticed the tweet and are pondering possible courses of action. Mohun Bagan, too, have submitted an official written complaint to AIFF, asking them to take appropriate actions.

Whether or not this particular allegation is proven, it seems the controversies stemming from the Kolkata Derby is going to continue for some time, and may have significant repurcussions for multiple people involved in them.
