Mohun Bagan rest Cornell Glen ahead of crucial AFC Cup tie against Yangon United

MOHUN BAGAN will be missing the services of their chief striker Cornell Glen when they take on Yangon United at the AFC Cup on Wednesday.

The I-League defending champions have gone off to a flying start in the continental tournament with 2 big wins against Maziya and South China. They face Myanmar's Yangon United in their third match in AFC Cup Group G.

According to Bagan coach Sanjay Sen, the reason behind Cornell Glen being rested is the injury he picked up in the match against Mumbai FC. The groin injury forced the former Trinidad & Tobago international to be substituted early on during the game.

Yangon United are the only other unbeaten team in Group G. They beat South China at home and then drew against Maziya away from home. Speaking to reporters, Sanjay Sen said he was paying special attention to their Brazialian attackers, Adilson dos Santos Souza and Marcelo Fernandes.

Despite the absence of Glen, the Mariners are expected to field a strong side; with Jeje Lalpekhlua as the target man up front and Pronay Halder manning the midfield with Lenny Rodrigues; Sony Norde and Katsumi Yusa running the wings. A contingent of 18 players has arrived in Guwahati. The players are as follows...

Goalkeepers: Debjit Majumder, Shilton Paul.

Defenders : Kinshuk Debnath, Luciano Sabrosa, Pritam Kotal, Souvik Ghosh, Abhishek Das, Prabir Das, Sanjay Balmuchu.

Midfielders : Pronay Halder, Bikramjit Singh, Kean Lewis, Katsumi Yusa, Souvik Chakraborty, Lenny Rodrigues.

Forwards : Sony Norde, Subhash Singh, Jeje Lalpekhlua.

A win tomorrow will put Bagan on the verge of qualifying for the knockout rounds, and put them in the best frame of mind as they go back to the drawing board to re-evaluate their season so far during the international break.
