Mumbai City look to retain Indian core; make loan moves for Sunil, Mehta and others

MUMBAI CITY ARE expected to re-sign many of the players they had fielded in the previous edition of the ISL, including national team skipper Sunil Chhetri.

Mumbai City, according to a report by Goal.com, are in talks with Bengaluru FC to loan out both Sunil Chhetri and Udanta Singh, the talented young striker whose potential ISL teams are finally taking notice of after he established himself as a competent player in the I-League and got a call-up for the national team camp that will begin tomorrow.

The franchise co-owned by Bollywood star Ranveer Kapoor is also looking to loan out Mohun Bagan midfielder Pronay Halder. Pronay represented FC Goa at ISL in the past.

Mumbai FC defender and something of a club legend Ashutosh Mehta is also on Mumbai City's radar for a potential second ISL stint with them.

The franchise hasn't done that great in the first 2 editions of ISL but last year they were doing well before things fell apart due to dressing room discord and lack of proper leadership. In 2016, their approach seems to be towards retaining all the good players they had last year, and possibly enhance that strength by signing better quality foreigners.
