Shaan vs Mohun Bagan fans

One of the reasons cited for not postponing the DSK Shivajians vs Mohun Bagan game was that celebrity pop singer Shaan had been booked to perform in the stadium during the match. It was the Shivajians' top division home debut and they wanted to do their best to attract all the eyeballs they could. But the multitudes of Mohun Bagan fans online did not take kindly to this. And their keyboard rage found an easy target on social media: Shaan. Hundreds of Bagan fans took to Twitter to ask Shaan to cancel his performance on that day. Some expressed anger at him for indirectly contributing to hurting Bagan's cause, others appealed to his patriotism: since the Mariners were representing India in Asia. Many even offered to reimburse him if he canceled the show. The singer handled it well, asking the fans to chill out pointing out that it wasn't up to him to decide when the match was held. In the end the matter ended relatively well for everyone. The kick-off of the game was brought forward, Mohun Bagan got a comfortable win out of it and they were driven to the Mumbai airport to catch a flight to China to play Shandong Luneng Taishan. Not the moat ideal thing for the players, but the angered fans did calm down a bit.
