Ashley Westwood in fresh trouble over half-time scuffle with Bagan's team manager

BENGALURU FC head coach Ashley Westwood has been caught in a brand new controversy over a half-time scuffle with the Mohun Bagan team manager.

Weeks after the East Bengal team doctor Shambo Samrat Samajdar accused him of making racist comments after his side beat East Bengal at Barasat, Westwood got into an unsavoury incident that may land him in trouble with the AIFF disciplinary committee.

During half-time, when the Bagan players were retiring to their dressing room, Westwood went in front of their door and started yelling; probably a sledging tactic to disrupt the players' calm. Mohun Bagan team manager Sanjay Ghosh immediately protested against such behaviour.

At this point an agitated Westwood got into a scuffle with Ghosh. During that, the leather strap of Ghosh's wristwatch tore off, and the watch fell and broke.

The Bagan manager has reportedly informed the match commissioner about the incident.

Both coaches, however, were eager to play down the incident after the match. Sanjay Sen avoided the subject saying,

"At half-time I was concentrating on my players inside my own dressing room. I had no time to notice what was happening outside."

Westwood was dismissive of the incident. He said,

"It was a bit of football banter I guess."

A sizeable part of the Bagan administration, however, are interested in going the distance with this incident, especially since their own coach is facing a possible punishment from AIFF over his "sold out" remark.
