Cornell Glen says Bengaluru FC are one of the toughest opponents, promises to try his best

CORNELL GLEN, Mohun Bagan's striker-in-chief, made it clear that playing Bengaluru FC was going to be one of the toughest challenges for himself and his team this season.

Asked at the pre-match press conference how he found his new club Mohun Bagan when compared to his old club Shillong Lajong, Glen said,

"There's a huge differnence. Lajong is a young club, and they concentrate on developing players for the future. Mohun Bagan on the other hand are title contenders who try to win the league. So there's a lot more pressure on players to do well and perform. These are completely different philosophies."

Glen started the season in an emphatic fashion, scoring against Aizawl FC, Salgaocar and East Bengal in the I-League as well as against Tampine Rovers in the AFC Champions League. But later on there was a dip in his form, and Bagan's goal-scoring ability took a hit along with that. Asked why there was a lapse of form especially in the previous game against Mumbai FC, Glen replied,

"What happened in the last match is what happens to every player. We had a bad game. Simple."

He spoke highly of Bengaluru FC, recognizing them as one of the strongest teams in the I-League,

"BFC are a difficult team. Probably one of the best teams in the league. Every match is tough. But when you go out against a team that's in the title race it puts a lot more pressure on the team, it's just a matter of going out there, giving your best and hoping everything goes right on the day."

Hope he something the striker from Trinidad and Tobago desperately needs right now. During morning's practice session he struggled to find the target from set-piece situations, and even hit it wide when called up to take free-kicks.
