Jwala/Ashwini win in straight games to enter the pre-quarters of India GPG

INDIA'S LEADING WOMEN'S DOUBLES PAIR Jwala Gutta/Ashwini Ponnappa have entered the pre-quarters of the Syed Modi International Badminton Championship held at the BBD Indoor Stadium in Lucknow on Wednesday.

It was a comfortable win for the sixth seed as they defeated Heather Olver/Lauren Smith (England) in straight games 21-6, 21-14.

Along with Gutta/Ashwini, the other doubles pairs that qualified are Aparna Balan/Prajakta Sawant, Ningshi Block Hazarika/Harika Veludurthi, K Maneesha/Sikki Reddy, S Poorvisha Ram/Arathi Sara Sunil.

On the other hand, the men's doubles pair of Manu Attri/B Sumeeth Reddy were ousted in straight games 18-21, 16-21 by fourth seed Korean duo Ko Sung Hyun/Shin Baek Cheol. The ones who qualified to the pre-quarters are Vineeth Manuel/S Sajneeth, Anilkumar Raju/Venkat Gaurav Prasad, Pranaav Jerry Chopra/Akshay Dewalkar, K Nandagopal/Shlok Ramchandran.
