Anand Pawar enters the quarter-final at Welsh International

SECOND SEED Anand Pawar sailed into the quarter-final after beating Swierczynki Mateusz of Poland 21-9, 11-21, 21-7 in the Yonex Welsh International in Cardiff, Wales on Friday.

The Indian shuttler was dominant throughout, except in the second set where the Polish very smartly got back in the set to take it to the decider. The second seed repeated his first set domination in the third set to send the Polish packing. He will next face sixth seed Adrian Dziolko of Poland.

The other men's singles shuttler Aditya Prakash was defeated in the first round by Pedro Martins of Portugal 17-21, 9-21.

In the women's singles category, Tanvi Lad was ousted in the second round by seventh seed Olga Konon of Germany 14-21, 10-21.

The men's doubles pair Venkatesh Prasad/ Jagadish Yadav were ousted in the first round by sixth seed Nikita Khakimov/ Vasily Kuznetsov of Russia 17-21, 9-21.
