Bopanna/Mergea clinch final doubles spot for ATP World Tour Finals, London

INDIA’S ROHAN BOPANNA and Romania’s Florin Mergea have successfully qualified for the doubles event of the World Tour Finals, year ending championships in London.

Bopanna/Mergea suffered some anxious moments after their loss in the quarters, but after Vasek Pospisil’s and Jack Sock’s defeat in the Paris Masters finals to Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo today, the Indo-Romanian pair have sealed the final and the eight position for the showdown in O2 Arena.

Bopanna made his maiden appearance in the world tour finals in 2011 but failed to get past behind the round robin stages. However in 2012, Bopanna along with partner, Mahesh Bhupathi finished runners-up in London.

Bopanna/Mergea have 30 wins out of 44 matches for 2015 and given their liking for the indoor hard courts,  the pair would be keen on going deep into the tournament.

Meanwhile, the Bryan brothers will once again be the front-runners in London and the newly crowned winners of Paris Masters Dodig/Melo too will fancy their chances of finishing off the year on a high.

The season finale in London will commence from 15th November.
