Carlos Marchena leaves Kerala Blasters, James McFadden in talks to replace marquee striker

MAJOR CHANGES WERE ushered into the world of Kerala Blasters after their 3-2 loss to Pune City on 27th October. They parted ways with their head coach Peter Taylor, appointed a new one in Terry Phelan. They changed the team's old formation to unlock a much smoother way of functioning that saw them earn a draw against Chennaiyin FC and a win against FC Pune City tonight, to herald a revival of their campaign.

Now it appears they have taken their house cleaning one step further. Their marquee player Carlos Marchena, who has been struggling to get back to full fitness since he picked up an injury during pre-season, has also parted ways with the Kochi-based franchise. 

Rumours of Marchena being on his way out has been growing for a while but the confirmation came tongiht. According to a report published in Goal.com, the decision was taken in light of Marchena's struggles to regain full fitness to last a whole match.
 
It has also been reported that 32 year old Scottish forward James McFadden, who has played 48 matches for his national team and represented many prominent English and Scottish Premiership clubs like Everton, Sunderland, Birmingham and Motherwell is in talks with the franchise to join as a replacement for Marchena. McFadden, who played top division league football till the 2014-15 season, has a club career record of scoring 76 goals in 370 appearances and has won the English Football League Championship with Birmingham in 2008-09 to get them promoted to the Premier League.
