IT WASN'T A GOOD DAY in office for Indian shuttlers plying their trade in French Open Super Series as all from the Indian contingent, except Saina, packed their bags.

During his round of 16 match, reigning Commonwealth Games champion Kashyap lost the first game 11-21 before winning the second game 21-13 at the Pierre de Coubertin Stadium.
World No.10 Kashyap was trailing 2-4 in the deciding game when he opted against continuing the competition due to fitness issues.
On the other hand the man in form and Denmark Open winner Ajay Jayaram lost in a straight set to Houwei Tian of China 18-21, 8-21.
Disappointing performance today. Had my chances in the 1st set. Didn't step it up when it mattered. Lots to learn. Hope to get back stronger

HS Prannoy who defeated the Olympics champion bowed out of the match after losing to Ka Long Angus Ng 15-21, 10-21.

The day ended on a high, when in the women's singles category, Saina Nehwal, despite losing her no. 1 ranking, qualified to the quarters beating Minatsu Mitani 21-19, 21-16. Minatsu Mitani from Japan has always been a tough opponent to Saina as the previous two meetings in Denmark and Japan, Saina had to be one the losing side. But the Indian ace shuttler hold her nerve and kept Minatsu Mitani at the bay.
