Durand Cup 2023 HIGHLIGHTS: Odisha FC youngsters edge Rajasthan United, make QF bid

ODISHA FC'S YOUNG TEAM have beaten Rajasthan United, securing their fist win in Durand Cup 2023.

The Super Cup winners fielded an all-Indian development side in Durand, and lost their first match to Indian Army 0-1.

But in this match, although Rajasthan dominated possession and created an ambple amount of chances, lack of good finishing turned the table in the game.

Chandra Mohan Murmu put Odisha ahead just minutes after the second half began, but Richardzon Denzell equalised soon afterwards with a brilliant finish from outside the box.

But ultimately Odisha regained their lead when Ashangbam Aphaoba Singh converted a penalty just after the hour mark.

With this victory Odisha have risen to second place in Group F with 3 points from 2 matches. The group is hanging in a balance because 3 clubs - Indian Army, Odisha FC and Rajasthan United - all have 3 points each and there even may be a slight advantage to the Army team because they have played a game less.

The remaining matches are expected to be highly competitive because in Durand Cup finishing second does not guarantee a place in the quarter finals.
