HIGHLIGHTS: Mohammedan Sporting off to seven star start in CFL 2023

MOHAMMEDAN SPORTING HAVE started their Calcutta Football League title defence in the most dominant fashion possible.

The Black Panthers, who have won the two previous CFL titles, are looking to make a hat-trick of championships for the second time in club history. Today, at their own home arena the Mohammedan Sporting Ground, they took on Calcutta FC in front of a nearly sold out crowd and won 7-0.

David Lalhlansanga opened the scoring for MSC, finding the net twice in the first half and completing a hat-trick. Sagolsem Bikash Singh also scored just before half-time. In the second half, it was Beneston Pecton Barreto's turn to dominate the scoresheet; he scored a hat-trick within just 16 minutes; one of the fastest hat-tricks in CFL history.

Mohammedan will face the first serious challenge in their campaign when they take on United SC on Saturday. The I-League club is trying to mount a campaign to win a promotion to the ISL; and winning the CFL for the third time in a row will give them a big boost towards that goal.
