Durand Cup 2023 HIGHLIGHTS: Mumbai City get a 3-1 win over Mohammedan Sporting

MUMBAI CITY GOT OFF to a solid winning start in Durand Cup 2023, beating Mohammedan Sporting 3-1 in the Group B opener.

Taking on MSC in Koshire Bharati Stadium, MCFC got their breakthrough early when Rostyn Griffiths found the net just 12 minutes in. The goals kept coming for the Champions of India, with Jorge Diaz and Lallianzuala Chhangte also getting on the scoresheet.

Towards the end of the first haf, Mohammedan Sporting got one back, with David lalhlansanga bringing them back into the game.

The second half was much of a stalemate, although MCFC were the ones creating most of the chances and MSC defended with all their might. Ultimaltely, the game ended 3-1, giving MCFC a head start ahead of their match against Jamshedpur FC on Tuesday.

Mohammedan Sporting still have a chance to get back in the race to the knockout state, if they beat Indian Navy on Friday and produce a favourable result against Jamshedpur.
