Cricket movie '83', 3 films on Indian football featured in Kolkata's 1st international sports film fest

THREE FILMS RELATED to Indian football, and the popular cricketing movie '83' are prominent features in the 1st International Sports Film Festival being held in Kolkata.

Seven Indian sports based films in total are part of this 3 day fest being held at Nandan. There are also four films from Germany and one each from Bangladesh and USA.

The films 'Egaro' and 'Tiki Taka' are both centred around Kolkata's football clubs. While 'Egaro' tells the story of Mohun Bagan's historic 1911 IFA Shield win, 'Tiki Taka' is the story of an African visitor to the city who earns fame and fortune by appearing in a fictionalised version of the Kolkata Derby (played between East Bengal and Mohun Bagan).

Another movie based on Indian football is the Malayalam feature film 'Sudani from Nigeria', which is a heartwarming tale of an African footballer playing Sevens football in Kerala bonding with the people of his team manager's home village.

The 3 day festival concludes with '83', the popular Bollywood movie that tells the story of the Indian cricket team's first World Cup victory back in 1983.
