Tsonga upsets Nadal in three sets to enter Shanghai Masters finals

WORLD NO.15, JO-WILFRIED TSONGA produced one of his best tennis of 2015 to beat world no.7, Rafael Nadal 6-4, 0-6, 7-5 in the first semi-final of Shanghai Masters 1000.

After having won the first set, breaking the Spaniard once, Tsonga got bageled in the second set. However, the Frenchman got the crucial break in the eleventh game and went on to take the final set and his ticket to the finals.

This was Tsonga’s fourth victory over Nadal in their 12 meetings.  Tsonga will move to no. 9 in the Emirates ATP race to London.

Meanwhile, Nadal, who notched up his 300th Masters Win yesterday, has further increased his chances of qualifying for the Barclays Top-8 year ending championship.

Although disappointed with the loss, Nadal, was quick to praise Tsonga's play on atpworldtour.com,

"I lost against a player who played very well. I congratulate him. He was a little bit better than me and that's why he is in the final.”
