Ishant Sharma suffers hamstring injury during Ranji Trophy game

INDIA FAST BOWLER Ishant Sharma has suffered a hamstring injury in the ongoing Ranji Trophy encounter between Delhi at Haryana.

Sharma bowled six overs on Day 2, but did not take the field on third day of the match being played at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium.

A member of the Delhi team management confirmed the news of Ishant's hamstring. However, details about the seriousness of his hamstring are still uknown. A typical hamstring may take anything between two to six weeks for complete recovery.

The Delhi pacer's injury is a definite bad news for the Indian team, as he is currently the spearhead of India's bowling attack in Tests. In any case, Ishant will be missing the first Test against South Africa at Mohali because of the one-match ban inflicted on him by the ICC.

The extent of Ishant's injury will determine whether he will recover in time to play the second Test to be held in Bengaluru on November 14.
