Djokovic, Nadal looking ominous en-route to semis in Shanghai

WORLD NO.1 Novak Djokovic is now sitting pretty on a 15-match winning streak after passing a tricky encounter against Aussie, Bernard Tomic 7-6(6), 6-1 in the quarter-finals of the Shanghai Rolex Masters 1000.

The mercurial Aussie was trailing 2-4 in the first set, but held firm to take the match to a tie-breaker. However, an error on the back-hand side gave the Serb the opening set.

The 22-year-old, Aussie quickly lost momentum and the Belgrade Native drove home the advantage by winning the second set comfortably by 6-1.

Djokovic is bidding to win the Beijing-Shanghai double for the third time and will play World No.2, Andy Murray, in the finals.

Meanwhile, in the other section of the draw, world no. 7, Rafael Nadal thrashed world no.4, Stan Wawrinka, 6-2, 6-1 in 63 minutes.

Wawrinka, looked jaded and appeared to have been suffering the aftermath of his 3 hour marathon against Marin Cilic in the previous round of 16. The Spaniard was quick to spot the opportunity and stormed into his second hard court semi-final of the year.

A very happy and smiling Nadal, told atpworldtour.com,

“Being in the semi-finals is a great result for me. I hadn't played the semi-finals on hard court all year and now I am playing two weeks in a row in the final rounds. That's a big improvement for me. In terms of confidence, in terms of level of tennis, I am playing better. Very happy for that because I am working so hard."

Nadal, will play Frenchman, Jo Wilfred Tsonga in the semi-final tomorrow.
