MOHAMMEDAN SPORTING REACHED the final of the Calcutta Football League 2021, beating United SC by a solitary goal today.
The Black Panthers faced a tough opposition from the young United SC side. The first half was a tight contest with neither side creating many chances. But the breakthrough came 43 minutes in, when Mohammedan Sporting got a penalty that Marcus Joseph converted. It ended up being the only goal in an otherwise close contest.
With this, MSC have sealed their spot in the final where they will take on Railway FC.
It has been 40 years since Mohammedan Sporting have won the CFL. They have won Asia's oldest football league 11 times. They are the first club to win the league 5 times in a row, from 1934 to 1938. Railway FC, their opponent, will play in the final looking for their very first title.
