I-League Qualifiers - Mohammedan Sporting's jersey pays tribute to Marvel's 'Black Panther'

MOHAMMEDAN SPORTING HAVE officially announced their new investors and laid out their plans for a major national resurgence, which includes playing in the Indian Super League.

The 129 year old club will play in the upcoming I-League Qualifiers, and in a long anticipated event at Hyatt Regency the club's officials and investors laid out how that will lay the ground for them to reclaim their place of prominence at the national level.

Bunkerhill Private Limited, the new investors and "title partners" of Mohammedan, will have a 50-50 share split with the club in their new joint venture. At the official unveiling of the partnership, club general secretary Sk Wasim Akram and Bunkerhill director Aditya Raj both expressed the hope that the widely popular club would bring back its glory days soon.

The new official home and away jerseys were also unveiled at the event. The jerseys bear patterns and design elements that pay a tribute to the Marvel Comics superhero Black Panther; a reference to Mohammedan's traditional nickname 'The Black Panthers.' The jersey was designed by Sandipan Chakraborty, who submitted it as part of a kit design contest conducted by the club.

The club's attempt to win a promotion to the I-League will include 4 matches in the qualifiers; against Garwhal FC (8th October), ARA FC (11th October), Bhawanipore FC (16th October) and Bengaluru United (19th October). All matches will be played behind closed doors due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
