MOHUN BAGAN LOST TO Malaysian Super League club Terengganu FC 4-2 in the semi-finals of the Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup.
This defeat means both the Indian clubs who entered the semis of this AFC-FIFA recognized international tournament have not made it to the final.
Today Mohun Bagan started with a specific plan to attack from the wings and use an overlapping Francisco Morante and Dhanachandra Singh to bolster the attack. But one thing they were unable to deal with was Lee Tuck's set pieces who scored two from free kicks and one from a penalty.
The first half saw the Mariners being denied two significant calls for penalty, and finished the half a goal down. Early in the second half they did get a penalty and Francisco Morante converted from the spot. Not long after Lee Tuck got Terengganu the lead again with another free kick but this time Mohun Bagan equalized through a header from Francisco.
Towards the end of the half, the Bagan defence fell short and a terrible blunder allowed Terengganu to take the lead again. As Mohun Bagan pushed the entire team ahead to get even it led to the fourth goal.
