Overview

South Africa and Australia will lock horns in the first Test on Thursday at Durban. The Kingsmead is known for its unpredictability and it will be interesting to see what the teams do with their combination. 

On the weather front, there shouldn't be a big concern. That said, a few spells of showers can never be ruled out at this venue. 

For the hosts, ABD, Faf, De Kock and Philander return to the team and they should all take to the field. Remember, Dale Steyn won't be a part of this test after being declared unfit. 

Meanwhile, the Aussies will pretty much play the same team that thrashed England in the recently concluded Ashes.

Key players 

Smith- If at all anyone has the class to excel in extreme South African conditions, it is the Aussie skipper. 

Philander- He will remain the key with the new ball for the Proteas. Dropping him could will be a poor move.
