PBL 2017-18: MATCH REPORT -- Mumbai Rockets trumped Awadhe Warriors 4-1 to win the tie

MUMBAI ROCKETS' dominant performance saw them win the tie 4-1 defeating Awadhe Warriors in the last tie in Lucknow.

This was another tie that went down to the last one to decide the winner. Mumbai had to get back to winning ways after their previous beating at the hands of Delhi.

The first tie, mixed doubles contest was the trump match for Awadhe, Christinna Pedersen/Tang Chung but unfortunately they lost to the Mumbai's pair Lee Yong Dae /Gabriela Stoeva 15-10, 14-15, 15-7. And this put Awadhe in a negative point.

Their misery continued as Mumbai's men's singles shuttler Sameer Verma furthered their lead beating young Harshit Aggarwal 15-6, 15-14. The young lad displayed great performance in the second game.

This was followed by women's singles contest that saw Saina Nehwal and Beiwen Zhang in action against each other. And in great style and fashion the champion Indian shuttler Saina brought her team back alive in the tie as she defeated her opponent 8-15, 15-10, 15-13 to get her team's points back to positive. But Mumbai still held the lead 2-0.

Then came Kidambi Srikanth who gave his team the first point on the scoreboard beating Son Wan Ho 15-13, 13-15, 15-4.

And the final match of the tie was a trump for Mumbai as Lee Yong Dae/Tan Boon were up against Hendra Setiawan/Chin Chung. Winners of the match would take the tie to their name. And this was Mumbai's night to win as Lee Yong/Boon defeated their opponents in straight games 15-13, 15-12 giving their team the tie 4-1.

But Awadhe still hold the top position with 13 points.
