MATCH REPORT: Added time penalty gives Jamshedpur a win over Bengaluru FC

SUBRATA PAUL was the busier of the two keepers as he kept the Bengaluru FC attack at bay throughout the game. Jamshedpur had their chances just like Benglauru but it was the added time of the second half when the game was decided.

At the 20 minute mark, Bengaluru launched a wave of attacks. First it was a high ball to Chhetri in the box, his header was going goal wards but the defender on the goal line took no chances and headed it behind for a corner. Immediately it was Udanta whose low cross in the middle of the box was not met by any Bengaluru player. Chhetri was in action one again as Edu Garcia found him inside the box. Chhetri shot on target but Subrata was able to make a save at his near post. Back to back shots from Miku and Eirc were on target showing Jamshedpur defence was being tested and even breached.

The JFC defence was caught off guard when three BFC player reached behind the defence and had the ball. JFC defenders rushed to close them down and did just that else it could have been a good chance. Farukh replaced Mehtab as the latter picked up an injury. Close to half time Jamshedpur created space on the left by Belfort and Jairu. The cross looking to find Belfort ended in Gurpreet’s hands.

The second half had a bright start as chances at both ends in quick successions saw both defences on their toes. A good quality cross in the box saw a deflection dropping to Belfort in the box, the ball hits his chest and he is unable to get a good hold of his shot. The ball hits Gurpreet, rebounds off Belfort again and goes behind for a goal kick. A while later Belfort released Jerry with a good through ball but the youngster’s shot narrowly missed the far post.

Chhetri’s in the last 20 minutes took a shot from the top right of the box. Subrata made the save but the ball landed in the box again but Tiri was right there to clear the danger. Subrata Paul was a saviour for Jamshedpur as Chhetri’s fine run made him reach behind the defence. He unleashes a powerful shot but Subrata stood his ground, made himself big and saved a sure goal. Miku made a good run and kept the ball in to find Dimas, whose volley missed to be on target.

Nishu the second half substitute created a good move from the left flank and sent the ball in the box but Tiri was in the right spot to clear the danger. The game-defining moment came in the added minutes when Bheke brought down Doutie near the edge of the box. The referee pointed to the spot. Trindade took his time to send the ball in the back of the net and with won the match too.
