MATCH REPORT: Jeje's brace sees Chennaiyin edge out ATK with an injury time winner

GOAL GALORE at Chennai. The first half yielded no goals but the second had a surprising five goals.

Early exchanges between the Chennaiyin FC and ATK teams saw nervous moments from both defences as passes among the defences saw the last man clear the ball in a haste. The lineman saw himself getting a lot of attention of players as his decision to award the free kick to Chennaiyin was mistakenly awarded to ATK.

Zequinha was very much active in the game, keeping Chennaiyin defenders on their toes. About 25 minutes from the game, only one shot on goal was registered. Five minutes from the half time, a corner taken had Karanjit coming out but his loose clearance saw Nogrum attempt to get his shot on target but missed it.

The half time saw the scoreboard as it started with. Jordi made way Ashustosh for one of two debuts for the night. Robbie Keane, the second ATK players to make his debut in ISL came on at the hour mark. The hour is when things started to move in a definite direction. Gavilan's corner taken was short and he got the ball back from Inigo. His cross into the box saw Sereno's header come off the post and Jej who was just in front of a near open goal nods it in. The ATK defence has multiple players unmarked which led to that goal.

Seven minutes later, ATK got their reward for trying continuously looking for the equaliser. Zequinha was in the box and made the most of the poor defence of Chennaiyin. Chennaiyin got back their lead in the 84th minute as Inigo was played in the box and his side foot effort took a deflection to end up in the net. 2 minutes from time ATK get back level. Keane played it for Kuqi and he was played onside by Inigo. Kuqi's initial shot was blocked by Karanjit and the rebound fell for the striker again which sees him find the roof of the goal. The fans were in for more as Jeje almost got a goal gifted to him by Debjit. The keepers one handed save saw Jeje waiting to tap the ball home from the near same spot where he scored the first time. There was not much time for the away time to get in another. It ended 3-2 in Chennaiyin’s favour. All five goals coming in the last 15 minutes of the game.
