TFG Fantasy Kabaddi: Fantasy Pundit tips for U Mumba vs Tamil Thalaivas in Jaipur

Overview

The two teams met each other 10-days ago in the penultimate game of the Chennai leg. Courtesy of an all-round performance, U Mumba pipped Tamil Thalaivas 30-33. 

The U Mumba are currently ranked fourth in the Zone A points table. They have won 10 and lost 10 of their 20 matches this season. Having played four more matches than the third-ranked Puneri Paltan, who have eight more points, the Mumbai outfit is nearly out of contention for the playoffs.

They are going into this match after suffering a 36-32 defeat at the hands of Jaipur Pink Panthers. With two matches to go, Mumbai will be hoping to end their campaign on a high.

The Tamil Thalaivas are out of contention for the playoffs. They are languishing at the bottom of the Zone B points table. They have won just four of their 19 matches in their debut campaign. They lost 13 and drew two of their remaining 15 matches. 

They have lost seven consecutive matches ahead of the clash against U Mumba. They suffered 35-45 defeat at the hands of Bengaluru Bulls. A win against Mumbai will ensure a temporary fifth spot for the Chennai-franchise.

Team Combination

The U Mumba benched Joginder Narwal and Shrikant Jadhav to start with Shabeer Bappu and Deepak Yadav, in their previous match, against Jaipur. Shabeer failed to make the most of the opportunity as he was involved in three unsuccessful raids out of five. Shrikant, who came on as a substitute picked two touch points and a bonus. The 22-year-old could start ahead of Shabeer against Tamil Thalaivas. Meanwhile, Deepak is likely to start again in the left corner after initiating two successful tackles out of five.

Kashiling Adake will lead the Mumbai’s raid department. He will find support in Anup Kumar and Shrikant Jadhav. Hadi Oshtorak, who has scored six successful tackles in the last two games, will start in the right corner. The Mumbai outfit has shown massive faith in Surender Singh despite witnessing the youngster make untimely challenges. He will start in the right cover. All-rounder Kuldeep Singh, who scored two Super tackles against Tamil Thalaivas in their last meeting, will start in the left corner. Expect Shabeer Bappu and Darshan Kadian to come on as substitutes. 

The Tamil Thalaivas have made a couple of changes in their recent matches. There is no report on Dong Geon Lee’s injury and the Sachin Tendulkar-owned franchise are likely to continue to play with Vineet Kumar in his absence. Despite Muruthu Kumar picking three successful tackles, they started with Vijin Thangadurai in the right cover. The latter has taken home no points in their previous two starts and we expect Muruthu to return to the starting seven.

Prapanjan and Ajay Thakur will raid in tandem and find support in Vineet Kumar. The duo have picked close to 50 points in the last two matches. Amit Hooda, who has picked no tackle points in the last three matches, will start again in the right corner. Meanwhile, Darshan, who scored six points against Bengaluru will also feature in the starting seven. The Thalaivas could start with Sanket Chavan over Anil Kumar in the left corner. The former hasn’t scored a single point in the last three matches.

Players that cannot be ignored:

Ajay Thakur: Despite the team’s unimpressive run, the Tamil Thalaivas’ skipper has consistently picked points. The 2016 WC hero has a Super 10 in all his last five matches. Ajay has racked 73 points in the last five matches. He is expected to take the raiding charge again and force the shaky U Mumba defence to commit early tackles. He has succumbed to two Super tackles in their previous tie and will be looking the avenge the defeat. We pick him as our captain. 

Kashiling Adake: The U Mumba raider has been pretty inconsistent this season. However, he has wreaked havoc against the weaker defensive sides. We expect him to start off picking easy bonuses only to bulldoze through the Tamil Thalaivas defence later in the game. Kashi scored five touch points and a tackle against Jaipur. We expect a similar performance against the Chennai franchise. We pick him as our vice-captain.
