The two teams will face each other for the third time in Pro Kabaddi. While their first clash ended in a draw (33-33), Tamil Thalaivas pipped UP Yodda 34-33 in the second encounter.

The Tamil Thalaivas are going into this contest after suffering four consecutive home defeats. Losing 11 of their 17 matches, the Thalaivas have won just four matches in their debut campaign. 

They suffered a comprehensive loss against Telugu Titans on October 3. The Chennai-side saw no support from its defence as skipper Ajay Thakur single-handedly put up a fight by scoring 20 points from 23 raids. With that loss, they also moved to the bottom of the Zone B points table. With two matches to go, at home, the Thalaivas will be hoping to give the fans something to cheer for.

The UP Yoddha are placed third on the Zone B points table. With a match in hand, they are 15 points behind second-ranked Bengal Warriors and 18 points behind table leaders Patna Pirates. Thus, they have to win the rest of their four matches in order to keep the hopes of qualification alive.

They are going into this match after suffering a narrow defeat against Puneri Paltan. The Yoddhas have time and again failed to hold their nerves under pressure.
