The Puneri Paltan are going into this match after beating the Tamil Thalaivas 20-33 in the opening match of the Chennai leg. They have won 10, lost three matches out of 13 this season. They are only seven points behind second-ranked Haryana Steelers and 10 points behind table leaders Gujarat Fortunegiants.

The UP Yoddha have won six, lost seven and drawn four of its 17 matches this season. They are going into this match after thrashing Dabang Delhi 16-45 in the last game of the Delhi leg. Prior to that win, the Yoddhas had also pipped table leaders Patna Pirates 41-46.

The Yoddhas have a strong attack and defence with only the right cover being their chink in the armor. They will be hoping to edge the Paltans and move closer to the second spot.
