Fantasy Cricket: TFG Pundit tips for England v West Indies 5th ODI

Overview

England will take on the West Indies in the final match of the ODI series tomorrow at Southampton. The hosts are 3-0 up in the series and therefore this game becomes a dead rubber.

As we have seen in the past, when teams only play for pride, changes in the playing 11 are almost inevitable. We think both teams will continue to experiment with their squad. The hosts will miss Ben Stokes and Alex Hales for this game too as Sam Billings will get another go. In the pace department, we feel Tom Curran will get a chance. In West Indies camp Jason Holder will be missing the 5th ODI due to personal reasons and things are not looking good with respect to Evin Lewis ankle injury

As far as the wicket at Southampton goes, we feel the batsmen will enjoy the conditions. Historically, the venue has seen high scoring games and tomorrow could be no different. On the weather front, there could be a few spells of showers.

Rose Bowl venue stats

A few months ago, England hosted South Africa at this ground and both teams ended up scoring almost 330 runs each. In 2016, Pakistan scored 260 and the hosts too were on track, but the rain intervened and the game was decided by D/L method. In 2015, Australia smashed 300 plus as the English were bundled out under 250.

Probable 11

ENG- Bairstow, Roy, Root, Morgan, Butler, Billings, Ali, Plunkett, Curran, Rashid, Woakes

WI- Gayle, Samuels, Mohammad, S Hope, K Hope, Powell, Cummins, Nurse, Taylor, Williams, Joseph

Important players for this game

Roy- After being dropped in the initial few games, the Surrey opener found his mojo in the Oval game and in this mood, he can destroy the Windies attack at Southampton.

Root- He remains England's best across format and batting at no.3, there is no way we are dropping him.

Individual Stats (last 10 matches)

Root- 37, 39, 2, 133, 64, 15, 46, 54, 84, 14

S. Hope-  71, 35, 48, 81, 24, 25, 51, 35, 20, 11

Plunkett- 3, 1, 3, 4, 4, 0, 0, 0, 5, 0

Rashid- 5, 1, 2, 0, 2, 4, 1, 2, 3, 1

Mistakes to be avoided

While both teams might stick to rotation policy, we would suggest you to not experiment too much, but rather focus on getting all players on the field. Also, we feel you shouldn't be picking too many players from the Windies camp.
