On September 14, 2008, IMPACT hit a milestone as the company presented their first Pay-Per-View outside of the United States.
Eight years ago, a tent-pole PPV special, No Surrender, was held at the General Motors Center in Ontario, Canada. It was a monumental event for the company, and the line-up of matches was stacked to reflect it. No Surrender in 2008, featured matches with several world-renowned stars including Abyss, Petey Williams, A.J. Styles, Samoa Joe, Beer Money, Christian Cage, Angelina Love and Kurt Angle.
There were several Championship matches that night, that lead to both new Champions and extended title reigns. Sheik Abdul Bashir defeated Petey Williams and Consequences Creed to win the X-Division Championship. Taylor Wilde continued her reign as Knockouts Champion when she defeated Angelina Love, an incredible feat, as Angelina Love would go on to become a record-tying six-time Knockouts Champion. LAX was defeated by Beer Money, therefore the duo of Bobby Roode and James Storm were able to retain their belts.
Although the night was full of history-making television, the Main Event for the World Heavyweight Championship was the most anticipated of the night. Samoa Joe, the defending Champion, Kurt Angle and Christian Cage competed in an epic three-way match. Angle and Cage both came close to the win at different points during the match, but ultimately Samoa Joe was able to retain his title.
