ISL 2017: Center back Gerson Vieira re-signs for Mumbai City FC

LAST SEASON MUMBAI CITY FC's Brazilian Centre-back, the Gerson Vieira has agreed to play for the team for season 2017-18.

The 24-year-old defender began his footballing journey aged eight and graduated from Brazil's Gremio academy in 2012. He has had loan spells at Oeste, Red Bull Brasil and Atenas. Gerson has played for his national side for various age groups since 2006. Champion of Mediterranean International Cup held in Barcelona, Gerson has also been a winner of the South American under-15 and under-17 Championships.

During the 2009 Sendai Cup in Japan, Gerson was declared the tournament's best player. His leadership qualities have also seen him being handed the captaincy for Brazil in the under-15 and under-17 age groups. Earlier , MCFC retained their coach Alexandre Guimaraes and defender Lucian Goian.
