Warner is the only ball-shredder today, says Ravi Shashtri

FORMER INDIA ALL-ROUNDER Ravi Shashtri heaped praises on Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper David Warner for his aggressive approach to the game. The veteran cricketer is mighty impressed with the Australian’s performance with the bat and as a captain in the IPL. The Aussie opener has managed 458 runs in nine matches played this season.

As reported by TOI, the former director of Indian cricket team said,

“No batsman has hit more boundaries than Warner. Not even Kohli. We haven’t yet seen the switch-hit that once earned him a double-sided bat endorsement. This abstinence may be out of respect to the cares of captaincy. But Warner remains wild at the crease, a ball-shredder if ever there was one.”

The expert commentator believes that Australian is dead serious about his cricket and that teammates like Shikhar Dhawan are benefitting from his aggressive instincts.

“His creased brows and intent gaze tell you of a bloody-minded intent. Warner is worth our attention. He played for Australia before he had played a single first-class game. He won and lost a Test berth not for his runs, but for what he made headlines with in a bar brawl. The Warner of today trusts his aggressive instincts -gone are those flirtations with defence which for a while had mucked up his game.”

The 53-year-old also went on to compare Warner’s batting approach to the likes of legends Virender Sehwag and Matthew Hayden.
