THE IPL 2018 Players’ Auction is all set to be held in Bengaluru on January 27 and 28. The mega event will see 578 cricketers go under the hammer for a total of 182 open slots. With many national as well as international stars in the mix, the eight franchises will keep an eye on some young Indian talent from the domestic and Under-19 circuit.
Right to Match (RTM) card:
Once a team successfully bids for a player, the auctioneer will ask the player's previous owner whether they want to use their RTM card. If the franchise agrees, the player will be acquired for the same price that he had fetched in the latest auction.
The list of all the unsold players will be submitted to the franchises and subsequently, the bidding will start with the players’ base price being halved. Rs 422.5 crore is the total cash in hand for all the eight franchises. While the available purse for Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab will be Rs 67.5 crore each, the same for Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders will be Rs 59 crore.
