CFL 2023 HIGHLIGHTS: Mohun Bagan eat up FCI, go top of the table

MOHUN BAGAN'S YOUNGSTERS have re-taken the top spot in Group A of Calcutta Football League.

Taking on a struggling Food Corporation of India, the Mariners registered a massive 5-0 win to ensure they kept up their good run of form.

What was interesting this time was that because many player in the development team like Suhail Bhat have been included in the Durand Cup squad that's going to play arch rivals East Bengal just 2 days later, a lot of non-starters in their CFL squad were given starting roles. And they too proved themselves when given the chance.

Raj Basfore and Vinay Murgod stepped up to the plate in the first half, finding the net for Bagan. Near the hour mark Nongamda Naorem scored, and towards the end of the match Dipendu Biswas and Taison Singh got on the scoresheet as well.

This win has got MB's tally to 19 points from 7 matches; ahead of Kalighat MS (18 points from 9 matches).

The young Mariners will face Army Red in the next game, who have proven to be quite hard to beat so far.
