Mohammedan Sporting Ground to get floodlights soon, says Bengal CM

MOHAMMEDAN SPORTING may soon become the second club in Kolkata to have floodlights fitted in their own ground.

In an annual function at the club premises, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee announced that the paperwork required for the job has been submitted, and work will begin to install the floodlights as soon as the Army provides the permission.

Earlier, the state government had donated floodlights to be fitted in the Mohun Bagan ground. As a result, the club is now looking to host its Calcutta Football League matches in the evening for the first time in decades.

If Mohammedan Sporting get their floodlights in working order over the next few weeks, there's a good chance that some of Mohammedan's matches will take place under artificial lights, which can potentially boost their gate revenue by a lot.

With most of the CFL matches set to take place in the Maidan area at the East Bengal, Mohun Bagan and Mohammedan Sporting grounds, it seems the East Bengal ground is the only stadium that does not have floodlights at the moment. It won't be surprising if they end up with a set of floodlights just in time for some of the important matches of the upcoming CFL.
