MOHUN BAGAN HAVE gone to the top of the Calcutta Football League Group A table with an emphatic comeback victory over Tollygunge Agragami.
The Mariners, who have fielded their development team in the CFL, went down early in the game when Manas Sarkar scored for Tollygunge. But it wasn't long before they struck back through a Nongdamba Naorem goal that was scored after he dribbled his way past four defenders on the edge of the box and followed it up with a world class finish that the commentator compared with Messi, sending the sold out Barrackpore Stadium into a frenzy.
In the second half, Bagan piled on. Lalrinliana Hnamte scored a hat-trick and Suhail Ahmad Bhat also got his name on the scoresheet. As a result, the Green and Maroons made it to the top of the points table in the group A; above Kalighat MS and Diamond Harbour FC who both stumbled in their respective matches, being held to 1-1 draws by Peerless SC and Army Red. Both of them have 4 points from 2 matches, while Mohun Bagan have 6 points from the same number of games.
Mohun Bagan will next face Dalhousie Sports Club on Sunday; a special occasion for the team as it will be the first match of the season in their own home arena; the Mohun Bagan Ground.
