Ferrer and Tsonga confirmed for ATP Buenos Aires 2016

WORLD NO.7 David Ferrer of Spain and world No.16 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France have confirmed their presence at the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Buenos Aires tournament which will take place in February 2016.

Both players on Tuesday announced their participation via the competition's official website. The last champion of the annual Argentinian tournament was Spanish icon Rafael Nadal, Xinhua reported.

"I have heard great things about the event and the Argentinian public,"

said 30-year-old Tsonga, who has won 12 titles in his career to date.

Tsonga has already played in Argentina at the Davis Cup in 2013 where he won his two matches (against Carlos Berlocq and Juan Monaco) even though the South Americans won 3-2 and progressed to the semi-finals and France was knocked out.

Ferrer, who won the tournament in 2012, 2013 and 2014 did not play in the 2015 edition as the 33-year-old was competing in the ATP World Tour 500 series tournament in Acapulco, Mexico, which he went on to win.

"Buenos Aires is like a second home to me. I look forward to being in Argentina once again in February to participate in one of my favourite tournaments,"

said the 33-year-old.

The tournament will run between February 6 and 14 at the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club, on clay and will make up part of the ATP World Tour 250 series.
