PBL 2017: MATCH REPORT -- Delhi Dashers smash down the Hyderabad Hunters 5-0

AFTER HAVING two defeats Delhi Dashers end 2017 with a bang as they defeated Hyderabad Hunters 5-0 in the last tie of the Delhi leg.

The tie began with men's doubles Vladimir Ivanov/Ivan Sozonov's comfortable win 15-9, 15-11 win over Markis Kido/Yoo Yeon Seong.

The lead for Delhi was furthered by Wong Wing Ki Vincent who defeated Lee Hyun Il and it was the latter's trump match. A tough and hard fought win for Vincent that saw a three game thriller 13-15, 15-11, 15-14. And this trump match loss made the Hunters points in negative while Delhi had a two point lead.

This was followed by the much awaited match between women's singles contest Sung Ji Hyun and Carolina Marin. The Spaniard hadn't defeated Sung Ji in PBL and finally that jinx was broken.

Marin won the match in straight games 15-10, 15-12 to get her team back to positive points. But then things worsened as Tian Houwei won his trump beating Sai Praneeth 14-15, 15-14, 15-10.

It was all over for Hyderabad as Delhi were leading 4-0 with one match remaining. The mixed doubles duo of Ashwini Ponnappa/Vladimir Ivanov made it 5-0 with their win over Pia Zebadiah/Satwiksairaj. It was an easy win for the Delhi pair15-11, 15-12.

Delhi Dashers finally rectifying their mistakes from the past and displayed a clinical performance for their home fans.
