Overview
New Zealand will take on West Indies in the first ODI of the three-match series at Whangarei on Wednesday early morning (IST). Weather wise, there isn't much scare of rain.
For the Kiwis, Colin De Grandhomme won't be playing this game and the hosts have also named a different squad for the opening game. Meanwhile, the Windies have also got some injury issues. Marlon Samuels and Alzari Joseph have pulled out.
For the hosts, Martin Guptill won't be playing this series and that might see keeper Tom Latham once again open the batting with Colin Munro. On the seam front, Boult and Southee will lead the attack. It will be interesting to see who gets picked as the third seamer between Milne, Ferguson and Henry.
The Kiwis are also likely to play Todd Astle or George Worker as Mitchell Santner is not available for this game.
The Windies are going to pin their hopes on their formidable opening pair of Gayle and Lewis. The southpaws will be looking to exploit the smaller boundaries in New Zealand. Shanon Gabriel, K Williams and skipper Holder will take care of the pace department.
