THE DECISION TO NOT RETAIN any players from last season's squad got some surprising reactions from their fans.
The outcome of that decision was Dynamos entering the draft early in the first round to pick the players of their choice. The Dynamos did get three of TFG'S FIVE HOT PICKS. Pritam Kotal, one of the top defenders in the country and national squad picks was one of priciest defenders in the Draft. He will definitely form the Dynamos' starting eleven along with Sena Ralte.
Dynamos picked most defenders from the draft, about seven central defenders or wing backs. This completes most of the backline and will probably just add one foreign experienced defender. The senior most player in the team, at 30, is Rowilson Rodrigues, who can be overshadowed by an entrance of a foreign defender. For the goalkeeping department, the team have wrapped the signings with three goalkeepers, highest price going towards Albino Gomes who becomes an automatic choice for number one in the team.
In the forward line, is where the team's foreign investment will be attracted to bring in at least a couple of specialised strikers. On the Indian side, teenage prodigy Lallianzuala Chhangte is expected to play as the foremost. Romeo Fernandes and David Ngaihte will by plying their services on the wings and can easily not find them in the starting eleven with the presence of the incoming foreign singings.
India national under 23 midfielder Vinit Rai play in the midfield and has Simranjeet Singh for company on the Indian side. Vinit, with his experience and potential, even at 19, may just get to keep his place in central midfield. The Dynamos will load the midfield with foreign signings because they are in need of a holding midfielder, a play-maker and couple of potential lethal set-piece takers.
The average age of Indians in the team is 24 and looks more or less a youthful side. But could the decision of not keeping Anas Edathodika come back to haunt them is need to be seen?
